He decided to go in the footsteps of his grandfather and great-uncle and take up glassmaking. He trained as an engraver and glass designer at Glass School in Nový Bor. After completing his studies he started his own workshop in Rousínov, which later moved to Cvikov. After WWII, Emil Rimpler settled with his family in Germany in Zwiesel in an area called Bavarian Forest with a long glassmaking tradition, similarly as North Bohemia. Here again Emil Rimpler founded his own workshop which gradually grew into a very successful company “Kristall Rimpler” with many foreign business contacts. Business philosophy of this man was based on product quality and solid craftsmanship.

If you would like to know more about life of Emil Rimpler and his admirable perpetual endeavor, come see this exhibition prepared together with Glasmuseum Frauenau and daughter of Mr. Rimpler, Anne-Marie Rimpler. At the same time, this exhibition deepens the longstanding friendly relations of two glassmaking areas represented by towns of Nový Bor, Zwiesel and Frauenau. It will be open to public from April 9th to May 29th, 2016.

We would like to invite you to an exhibition “Emil Rimpler – Story of Love for Glass” at the Glass Museum Nový Bor.
